Senators Satchel Paige

League History

The Senators Satchel Paige Little League is named after Washington DC's own negro league team, the Washington Black Senators (1938) and the great baseball phenom Leroy Robert "Satchel" Paige.

The Senators/Satchel Paige Little League (SSPLL) was founded in 1996, as an independent baseball league, structured under Little League Baseball International, Inc. guidelines.  Our mission is to use baseball and softball as a platform to promote exemplary achievement by giving every child the opportunity to develop skills by being a part of an outstanding program to promote; leadership, teamwork, mentor-ship; and generate the resources to support DC based youth programs.

We are a chartered member of the Little League Baseball, Incorporated and covered under the Federal Group Exemption No.  3158 as described in section 501c (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. To date, the SSPLL boundary serves communities in Ward 4 and Ward 5 in Washington, D.C.  We are comprised of five divisions that include 4-6; 7-8; 9-10; 11-12; 13 and under players.
