Volunteer Opportunities

SSPLL Volunteers

Team Manager or Coach
Being a manager or coach requires time, patience, and basic knowledge of the game of baseball. You may be required to attend meetings, instructional sessions, or seminars. You will communicate with the parents/guardians of your players to inform them of any schedule changes, rainouts, and SSPLL events and activities.

As a manager or coach, you have more interaction with young people than anyone else in Little League. Therefore, it is important that you understand the goals and virtues of the Little League program in order to effectively communicate them to your players.

Umpires
To keep our games running smoothly and making the necessary calls, umpires are an integral part of the game. We offer resources and training to both volunteer and paid umpires.

Scorekeepers/Pitch Counters
While winning games is not the primary focus of SSPLL, we do keep score (mostly) keep track of pitch counts.  Scorekeepers and pitch counters play an important role in sorting out questions with regards to batting order, as well as protecting our young pitchers from exceeding Little League mandated pitch limits.

Field Maintenance
SSPLL maintains the fields that your child plays on. As a part of the field maintenance crew, your skills and abilities may be used to mow grass, line fields, rake dirt, and execute minor repairs on fences, benches and bleachers.

Concessions
SSPLL Little League needs concession stand volunteers. Responsibilities include filling orders, collecting payment, buying, preparing, transporting and/or storing various concessions.

Fundraising Committee
Fundraising helps provide such things as uniforms, equipment, awards, team snacks/drinks, and team trips/parties. This may require planning and attending meetings, organizing and participating in fundraising events, and managing and distributing funds. This will allow us to keep the league affordable for our community.

Team Parents
Parents are always an important asset in all organized sports. Becoming a team parent requires communication and coordination with other parents to plan team activities, events and foster team unity.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: All parents with children playing in the league are required to regularly participate and select one of the many volunteer opportunities to help make the league the very best for the children. Every position in the league is unpaid except for umpires. Families or parents who are unwilling to make this commitment and investment, will not be allowed to play within our league.
