Tee Ball

Ages (4-6)

In 2013, Little League® created a new program for Tee Ball players (ages 4-6) that is specifically designed to provide a foundation and introduction to baseball and softball that is grounded in fun, fitness and fundamentals. Tee Ball Baseball is for boys and girls who want to learn the fundamentals of hitting, fielding and having fun!

The Little League® Tee Ball program is a 10-week plan that features structured learning highlighted by one practice and one game per week. Over the course of the season, coaches and parents will engage in a series of lessons utilizing up to 40 activities that include skills, drills and plenty of physical activity.  For more information on the Little League Tee Ball Program visit Little League Tee Ball

Rookies

Ages (7-8)

Rookie Division programs for boys and girls are for ages 8 and under. Rookie Division is established  for "machine pitch," or "coach-pitch."   Emphasis is placed upon proper throwing and hitting mechanics, as well as defense/fielding.The focus is fundamentals and skill development.

Minors

Ages (9-10)

Minors Division is designed for 9-10 year olds. Play is kid-pitch format where players learn to pitch; the play of catchers is key and kids learn to run bases. The Minors Division is designed to improve players' skills in specific area (hitting, fielding, base running) in an effort to prepare them to play at the Majors level in subsequent seasons. 

Games are umpired by certified umpires. A playoff tournament will be played at the end of the season to determine a league champion.

All 9 and 10 year olds who play in the minor and major division are eligible to participate in the DC Little League State Tournament to provide an opportunity to compete in the national Little League World Series 

Majors

Ages (11-12)

Majors Division is the highest level of play in the traditional Little League program. Majors division is for predominantly 11 and 12 year old players; some 9/10-year old players are able to compete at this highest level. 

Games are umpired by certified umpires. A playoff tournament will be played at the end of the season to determine a league champion.

All 11 and 12 year old(s) who play in the major division are eligible to participate in the DC Little League State Tournament to provide an opportunity to compete in the Little League World Series held yearly in Williamsport, PA. 

Pros

Ages 13

The Pro Division are for players league-age 11+ with postseason tournament opportunities, including a World Series, offering a transition for players between the standard Little League field size (46-foot pitching distance and 60-foot base paths) and the Junior/Senior/Big League field size (60-foot, 6-inch pitching distance and 90-foot base paths). 

Many of the Junior League rules will be used such as runners being permitted to lead off bases, runners may attempt to steal at any time, and allowing an on-deck batter.
